Bosham Wedding | Chloe and Jack

Bosham Wedding | Chloe and Jack

I was introduced to Chloe a number of years ago at her sister Samantha’s wedding to Alex (do you remember that? With the cheeky trip to the Slow Fair, take a look back here), so it was really lovely when her and Jack got in touch with the idea of shooting their Bosham Wedding. With another connective twist, it turns out that through Jack’s work, he knows my godsons very well!

As per usual, once everything is firmly inked in the diary, we embark on our next quest: The engagement shoot. Chloe and Jack chose to visit West Wittering beach, which is a favourite of mine. While we were there, we were inundated with a throng of film set lorries, tech lorries and a whole array of business. Obviously curious, but none the wiser, we cracked on! After a bit of research, we’re pretty sure they were filming an episode of Call the Midwife! Exciting, shame we didn’t get to star in it ourselves!

Anyhow, here’s one of my favourite shots from that session, the light was just dreamy!:

Chloe and Jack had chosen to have a Bosham Wedding, at the church there, followed by a reception at the Fishbourne Centre. Lee and I started our day with a coffee, swiftly followed by heading to both Chloe and Jack’s parents to capture some of the preparations. I love this part of the day, observing the anticipatory moments, the details of everything that has been bought, made and sourced ready for this day and just the general atmosphere.

Everything was clearly organised, with clothing laid out, snacks, all the hair and make up essentials at the ready. The girls had even brought out an album made for Chloe of her hen do, which made for some funny memories to look back on! Seeing all the friends and family preparing together is just so lovely.

Looking at Chloe’s engagement ring and her wedding band, I adore how their design perfectly complements the other! It’s not a style I’ve seen before, but made by Lucy With Diamonds (links will be below)

As we’re getting closer to the moment the dress goes on, I couldn’t help but notice the liminal space around me… Chloe in one room having the finishing make up touches applied by Arletta while directly above her, the next step was patiently waiting.

In true wedding day fashion, the groom is ready before the bride! This meant there was time to capture some moments with Jack and his family before they headed off to the church (well, via the pub anyhow!!)

While this was happening, Chloe took a moment to open some gifts and cards from her loved ones, and Jack! I’m so glad her makeup was smudge-proof as these openings can get a touch emotional!! A quick shot of the girls in their matching robes, then it’s all systems go to get ready!

The boys did a quick stop at Bosham Church before heading to the pub. If you’ve not been, The Anchor Bleu is a great quayside pub boasting great food and drink with glorious views!

Back with Chloe, it’s that time where everything suddenly gets real. The putting on of the dress!! Chloe’s dress was a stunning princess style dress in ivory from Wed2B in Southampton, complemented by a lace bolero. It suited her style and shape perfectly, simply gorgeous! When she came downstairs for the first look, her bridesmaids and father were full of love, happiness and even a cheeky tear! Don’t worry, Dad, we’ll always catch you wiping away that stray tear!

Ceremony time!!! I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t matter how long I’ve been doing this, I can always feel my adrenaline kick in, the rush of nervous anticipation shoot up and that buzz as I wait for the groom to set sights in his bride for the first time.

With Chloe arriving with her dad, and Jack having a pep talk from both his best man and his mum, we’re all ready to go!!

I love how Chloe’s dad was well equipped with tissues as Jack also needed to wipe a stray tear after seeing his bride walk down the aisle towards him. It’s such an emotional step for both to walk down that aisle.

For those considering a Bosham Wedding, I would highly recommend it. The church is run by a great team, supporting you on this journey, while the building itself is stunning with it’s arches and vaulted ceilings. Large enough to host a big congregation.

With the church bells being run, Chloe and Jack grab a few moments outside while the guests are assembled for the confetti line! During this time, the weather is starting to turn… It seems like the only rain that was forecast has decided to arrive at this moment!

Chloe and Jack were superstars… despite having great plans for the group portraits to happen around the church and Bosham Quay, we decided to just stick with a few quick essentials before reconvening to the reception to carry on once the rain subsides. I mean, I’ll shoot in any weather, but this became torrential! Thankfully there were guests on hand to cover me with an umbrella while the newlyweds took as much shelter under a tree as they could for these shots! Despite our clothes being soaked through, no one’s mood was dampened by this!

Now, we all know that the great British weather can be fickle, but boy it chose to be extra fickle on this occasion! With a 30 minute downpour just as the ceremony finished, we arrived at The Fishbourne Centre (a mere mile or so away) to GLORIOUS SUNSHINE!!! You couldn’t make it up! However, there’s a great saying that if you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your love and marriage will be even more indestructible as a knot only tightens when it’s wet! I love that!!

The emerald and sunflower theme had continued at the reception with the hall adorned with the yellow flowers and pops of emerald through the table decor, plates and bunting!! A truly colourful sight!

With the skies now clear, we made sure to play catch up on the shots we were unable to get in Bosham.

With guests busying themselves at the bar, and making sure to create some polaroid entries for the guest book and chatting outside, we made sure to get a good stroll around and capture the candid vibes. Once those delicious looking charcuterie and cheese boards started popping up, we knew it was our turn to stop and recharge for a bit before returning for the speeches and the cake cut.

Jack clearly got a good roasting, however it was all done with a lot of love and good humour! The speeches really magnified how much love and respect all families had for each other. It was superb that grandad got up to say a few words too! Those spontaneous ones are great!!

A friend of the family, Karen, made a wonderful job of the wedding cake, a perfect match to the colours and decor of the day!

The final part of the day is the PARTY!!!! With the hall all cleared ready for the first dance and back lit by the awesome love letters, the newlyweds embarked on their first dance as husband and wife! It goes without saying that it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was filled, but I’ll save those images for when Chloe and Jack receive their full gallery, not just this highlights blog!

A massive congratulations to Chloe and Jack, it was such a pleasure capturing this part of your lives and a real joy to see some familiar faces from Sam & Alex’s wedding too!! Thank you for having us back for yours!!

Wishing you  both a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness!!
